BAYI plans to host an all-day arts and crafts program, focused on “tying and dying,” for the purpose of providing a creative outlet and encouraging environment for unprivileged youths.
Thirty five youth, between the ages of eight and fourteen, will be invited to attend a day long arts and crafts workshop. The program will help teach children to think creatively and will inspire confidence by showing the students that they can produce works of worth and beauty.
The tying and dying seminar will be taught by a resident artist and will combine counseling by eight BAYI facilitators. The children, most of whom come from exceedingly difficult circumstances, will leave with a true sense of accomplishment. The project cost covers the materials for the workshop, the fee for renting the facility and a small stipend for the art director. The project will be completed within four weeks of being fully funded.
