Project Hope will facilitate trainings for local psychology graduates in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder therapy. As much of the Palestinian youth suffer from PTSD as a cause of the violence they have witnessed in the Israel-Palestine conflict, the need for therapy is great. The number of personnel trained to give this therapy, however, is small. This project will attempt to reverse that ratio by establishing a group of trained individuals who will be committed to giving therapy long term.
A doctor of psychology and psychotherapy with a specialty in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder will facilitate this project. The doctor will give weekly trainings for recent graduates of the psychology department of An-Najah University. The students will be trained in how to give therapy for patients suffering from PTSD, focusing on therapy for children using art and drama as dynamic tools. The training will take place in English with a professional translator who is familiar with the field.
