Vaio Village, Kedra Region, GEORGIA / Eastern Europe and Russia
The Project will allow Vaio to purchase new maps for the geography class in the high school it supports so that the students can study maps that are not in Russian and do not show the Soviet Union and other countries that do not exist anymore.
Vaio would like to buy 5 new maps for the geography classroom to replace the Soviet maps that have been there since before the fall of the Soviet Union. Also, most of the maps are currently in Russian; Vaio would like the students to be able to learn in their native language, Georgian.
The students study Geography for 3 years, but they currently must learn from outdated maps that show the world as it existed during the Cold War. In addition to being outdated and in Russian, the maps are also faded and torn. The poor quality and inaccuracies in the maps presents a problem for students when they attempt to take the national exams for entrance into universities.
