Project Details
WOMEN Hyderabad, an aid organization in Hyderabad, India, plans to teach 20 women from a slum the crafts of embroidery and sewing. The women, whose chances for procuring a job that provides steady income are severely limited, will be taught how to make garments that are popular in India. This acquired skill will make the women marketable, enabling them to find a decent, steady job in the clothing industry.Training will take place at WOMEN’s field offices, with the price of the project covering the materials with which the women will learn and a very small stipend for the women for the duration of the course. The course will last for 4 months, as the level of skill required to produce marketable products is quite high. Volunteers from WOMEN will teach the course, and will then assist participants in finding jobs that will apply their newly acquired skills. A course will commence within 2 months of this project being fully funded.WOMEN Hyderabad
