Project Details
WOMEN Hyderabad, a local aid organization in Hyderabad, India, will sponsor ten women from the Asifnagar slum as they attempt to grow their already-established small enterprises. Women in India’s slums all too often start a business that at first seems viable, but then fails due to a lack of sophistication or capital. WOMEN seeks to help ten businesswomen ensure the success of their small business by providing them with business training and a small grant.Women with small businesses ranging from, for example, beauty salons to vegetable sales, will apply to WOMEN as program participants. WOMEN will accept only those businesses that have good prospects for success and whose owners demonstrate a sincere desire to learn more about business practices. WOMEN will teach the ten owners about best practices. Women will learn, for example, how to develop a business plan, how to ensure their business is legally registered, how to procure necessary materials, how to effectively market and how to handle customers. The workshops and lectures will take place over the course of three months, and the cost of the project will cover the small stipends and written materials provided to participants.WOMEN Hyderabad
