Yamini seeks funding to provide a healthy meal to each of its 52 students every school day. Many of the children have terrible diets away from school. Worse still, for many, the lunch at school may be the only sustenance they receive for the day.The lunches Yamini provides in its school for mentally handicapped children are prepared by in-house cooks, and the diet was constructed with the assistance of a physician. Children usually receive a whole grain, such as rice or pulse, along with fresh vegetables. They eat fresh fruit three times a week, and receive eggs a few times weekly to provide protein. The project price will cover one month of lunches for each of Yamini’s 52 students. This is an on-going project; Yamini will dedicate donations above the $630 requested to a savings fund from which it will draw for future, unfunded months.
